GIVE A STITCH
A core component of Fibre Forward is to remove cost and other access barriers for aspiring and current fiber artists.
Give a Stitch Kits = Give a Stitch Kits are offered, at no cost, by request and in the Collective. GSK’s currently include a skein or two (or three!) of yarn, needles, learn to knit instructions*, and a first scarf pattern. This is made possible through the generosity of the fiber arts community of donors. In the coming months, GSK’s will offer kits original patterns. Upcoming are Let’s Knit, Let’s Crochet, and State Street Socks kits.
Give A Stitch Series: Patterns = A series of project patterns, specifically designed for new stitchers, yet enjoyable for all levels of stitching experience. Patterns designed for access across a range of learning styles. Written, video, photographic, and charted explanations and tutorials included. Pattern in development: Knitted Sock, Learn to Crochet, Learn to Knit, First Crochet Project.
Until Fibre Forward officially releases its own print resources, Give a Stitch Kits that teach knitting and a first scarf will feature Tin Can Knits “The Simple Collection” learn to knit and Wheat Scarf pattern instructions. Thanks to Alexa and Emily for allowing us to share their resources.
